happy friday indeed

holla fo a dolla, it is friiiiiday and i am working from home today (hip hip hooray!). after this stressful week, this is exactly what i needed. and it is freezing today, so i've been snuggling up with bailey boy and watching revenge while i work. not too shabs if i say so myself!

smu's homecoming is this weekend, so we have a full weekend ahead. dinner/out tonight, tailgating/football watching tomorrow and a concert tomorrow night. let's just say sunday will be spent in bed haha. and because we have so much planned, i had to get my long run out of the way this morning, so i am 8 miles down and officially half-way through with my training! the dallas half marathon is 6 weeks away woop woop! anyway, onto today's fill in the blank friday.

1.  my favorite feeling in all the world is  when you see a close friend or family member that you haven't seen in a long time and give them a huge hug! it's truly the best

2.  my favorite smell is fresh garlic, gardenias and clean laundry. weird combo, i know...

3.  my favorite taste is sweet. i can't go an entire day without indulging in at least a tiny bit of sweetness.

4. the most beautiful thing i've ever seen was   the birth of baby finley - or any of my best friends' marriages :)
5. the best sound ever is  laughter. i also love the sound of a wine bottle being uncorked. is that an alcoholic thing to say? oops...

6. a smell that reminds me of my childhood is  playdoh
, cinnamon and the ocean

7.  my favorite of all the senses is  sense of sight. too much beauty in the world to be without it :)

hope everyone has a wonderful (and warm!) weekend!

hooray for friday

well ladies, i survived this week. don't know how, but i somehow made it and am less than 2 hours from the weekend [thank goodness]. it finally feels like fall in dallas today, so i decided to dress the part!

please excuse the cropped head...i don't ever post ootd pics, and i was too lazy to put any effort into my face today haha. i'm liking the cool weather though! scarves, leggings and boots are a-okay with me. oh, and i have to give some love to my new chunky gold bracelet from etsy. 16 bucks people! i dig it.

nothing too terribly exciting going on this weekend, but i'm strangely okay with that seeing as last weekend was crazy and next weekend [smu homecoming/halloween celebrations] will be a boozefest.

onto the friday blanks!

1.  one thing i plan on doing to relax this weekend is  paint my nails/toes and finish my fall wreath!
2.  a big pet peeve of mine is  man, what isn't a pet peeve for me? jk...kinda haha. i like to be on time [if not early], and it drives me a little cray when people are late. i also don't like people who have egos, but who does?
3.  i am really loving  today's fall weather, shopping for a halloween costume and the avett brothers.

4. the rain is   a downer, and it makes me sleepy. i only like the rain when i am being lazy and lounging.
5. my biggest girly indulgence is  tv shows - i love a good girly show (revenge, gossip girl, bachelor/ette, nashville and smash). in my defense, my favorite show on tv is sons of anarchy, so i balance myself out ;)

6. a song i always get stuck in my head is
totally depends on the week since i listen to a lot of music...lately it's been "party in the usa" by miley cyrus. yeah, i'm gonna need a new one to get stuck pretttttty soon.

7.  the best cure for stress is  a run, bubble bath and a glass of wine.

hope you all have a blessed weekend. tootles!

!!!!????!?!?

sorry for the lack of posts this week...i've had a frustrating couple of days. who would have thought a short work week would stress me out as much as it has. i had lots of plans this week. plans to switch out my summer to fall clothes, plans to do some diy-ing, plans to clean up our messy home and plans to catch up on my thank you notes. yep, none of these happened because the world decided to shit on my head this week.

ever felt like this...?

fill in the blank friday

good morning mah friends! i am sooo excited it's friday because we are heading to austin in less than 5 hours for acl [austin city limits]. a 3-day musical festival in one of my favorite cities in the world?  yes, please. i am so excited :)

in more serious news, did anyone watch the vp debate last night? political party aside, did you think biden was completely out of line? i am interested to hear thoughts on this because i was so shocked and disgusted at his smirking, laughing and constant interrupting all night. very unbecoming of the vice president of the united states. sorry, had to throw my 2 cents in because he really got my blood boiling last night. we are lucky we still have a tv because i almost threw several objects at it last night haha.

and in happier news, here are today's fill in the blanks :)

1.  my favorite flower is  hydrangeas and peonies

2.  you should never talk about  i don't think any topic is really off limits...i actually enjoy talking about the more "controversial" topics like politics. i've always loved hearing opposing views and such because you never know what you may learn.

3.  my favorite discovery as of late is sock buns!! i finally figured out how to do it in my [very fine] hair and i am obsessed. so easy and so cute!

4. this fall you will probably find me wearing    cozy sweaters, skinnies, leggings, boots and blazers (obsessed with my new pink one).

5. i wish i were  in austin now! but excited for a road trip with my hunny.

6. my favorite tv show currently is   sons of anarchy and revenge. i just started the first season of revenge and am obsessed. sons of a is just amazing. both leave me wanting more!

7.  this weekend i want to listen to some bands, drink with friends and get some quality time with the parentals. all part of our austin plan! can't wait.

hope you all have an incredible weekend!

 here we go

hope you enjoyed. i've gotta break these up so i have some more "wedding wednesday posts" this month, but more to come next week.

happy hump day!

Friday, October 5, 2012

afternoon, lovelies!! i totally meant to do a "wedding wednesday" post this week, but my workload got a little heavy come wednesday. unfortch, work > blog. work's certainly not more important (or more fun), but mama's gotta eat! i got all of my wedding pics back and am so excited to share them with you! i know i posted a few not too long ago, but seeing all of them was amazing. our photographer was the sh*t. hands down exceeded all expectations i had! anyway, glad this week is over and ready for a chillaxing weekend ahead! hubs and i are running a 5k in the morning that a client of mine sponsors and his bank is very involved with. afterwards, we are planning to hit up the texas state fair for some corn dogs and carnie rides. bring on the mustard!

1.  the last thing i ate was  chobani greek yogurt. my typical breakfast consists of a kashi go lean bar and greek yogurt when i'm in a rush. oatmeal or cereal when i have more time. speaking of breakfast, it is definitely time for lunch...

2.  the last time i went to the beach was  our honeymoon a little over month ago (tear).

3.  my last vacation was our honeymoon in st. bart's. ah-may-zing. i haven't uploaded our photos yet because i fear i may cry haha.

4. the last place i drove was    to work. yoga before that. my answers are boring today.

5. the last song i listened to was  currently listening to "good girl" by carrie underwood. before that was "dark side" by kelly clarkson. apparently the theme of today's music is girl power.

6. the last thing i watched on tv was   the today show! every morning while i get ready.

7.  the last time i said "i love you" was  in a text to trey about 10 minutes ago. just cuz i do :)

hope you all have a wonderful octoberful weekend!

advice for engaged and newlywed women

no, not from me haha! i found this on pinterest today and liked to too much not to share...

"20 things i want to tell engaged and newlywed women {really all married women}"

1. marriage is made up of two good forgivers. because every marriage is made up of two sinners. (romans 3:23)

2. at some point, you will have to learn that life isn’t all about you. (philippians 2:3)

3. don’t listen to women that tell you that passion fades…it doesn’t have to! (um…all of song of Solomon)

4. don’t give up. love never fails. (1 cor. 13)

5. he wants a kind wife, not a maid or another mother. be nice. (galatians 5:22-23)

6. give your husband the gift of your respect. he needs it more than you know. (ephesians 5:33)

7. be mindful of your expectations.

8. honor the Lord above all things. colossians 3: 17

9. find your worth and security in the Lord, and don’t look to your husband to meet all of your needs.

10. be very careful about reading romance novels, they set you up for an unrealistic view of romance.

11. real romance is finding that one spot in the crook of his arm to snuggle into, that shared look over the dinner table when the kids are acting crazy, and the way he fixes the leaky sink when he is dog-tired after work.

12. love is about relationship. the more i love my husband, and seek a relationship with him, the less critical and duty-bound i become. it is similar to my relationship with God.

13. be thankful for the husband you have. accept him as he is, not for what you want him to be.

14. don’t compare!! don’t buy into the game of comparing him with anyone else’s husband.

15. the biblically “normal” marriage is filled with joy, connection, laughter, and peace. it’s not free of hurt feelings and conflict, but they know how to process their pain with one another so that they live more often in a meadow than at the scene of a train wreck. this is not the average marriage, but it normal – -because it is a visible display of Jesus’ relationship with His bride (ephesians 5:22-33).

16. your marriage is a testimony! “the #1 evangelistic tool in america (the world) today is a successful marriage, because it’s a living miracle!” – dr. joe aldrich, former president of multnomah bible college.

17. pray for your marriage. pray hard.

18. i’ve heard that is gets better with age. i have to say in my short {13 year} experience, that is so true.

19. where there is God, there is always hope. even for the most broken marriages. “with God all things are possible.” (matthew 19:26)

20. marriage is commitment and sacrifice. but it’s also the best, most wild ride you will ever have with your best friend.

ohhh, monday. you again

it rained alllllllllllllll weekend. well, not all day yesterday, but i'm always productive on sundays, so i couldn't really take advantage of being outside when the sun finally decided to come out. so we had some fun plans on saturday, but since it down poured all day, we stayed in and watched football with friends and went to fort worth saturday night for what would have been the fort worth zoo ball. since the ball was outside, they had to cancel it but still invited everyone to dinner at a local restaurant. it was definitely fun to get out of the city for a night - rain or shine!

aside from that, nothing new and exciting to update! i made a new crockpot recipe yesterday - chicken chow mein. it was delicious! so delicious that i even had leftovers for lunch today :) no pics unfortunately - i was too hungry to photograph yesterday haha. my b.

hope everyone had a great weekend and a good monday.

oh, and. i love texas.

yep. i think i'm officially a proud texan.
