His & Hers
I'm doing a little his & hers today (inspired by the posts over at the little things we do and Happiness is...) that is all about things we dislike. So, without further adieu, here are T's answers and my own.

HIS
biggest pet peeve: people smacking their food and bad breath
most hated food: prunes
most despised type of music: girl pop singers....boy pop singers in close second
chore to avoid: doing laundry
worst trend imaginable: blue jean shorts
idea of the worst vacation: Talk Tour trip to South Dakota (yes I've done it, and it is as terrible as it sounds)
HERS
biggest pet peeve: being late and getting stuck in traffic
most hated food: onions. ew.
most despised type of music: punk/hardcore rock music. I just don't get it.
chore to avoid: putting clothes away
worst trend imaginable: jumpsuits...listen, I know some people [try to] pull it off, but I just think they are hideous
idea of the worst vacation: Carnival cruises...not into them
Hope you enjoyed that ;) Weekend was amazing! Girl Talk was unbelievable...I danced for the entire time he "played." Ridiculous. I was struggling yesterday but feel much better today. Onto the next weekend trip!

Best day of the week baby!
FRIDAY! Yayyyy. I've already had a really great morning - had coffee with the boss lady, and I got a promotion and a raise! HIP HIP HOORAY! And in 4 hours, I'll be on the road to New Braunfels to parttaayyyy. Counting down the minutes...
Anywhoo, here's today's fill in the blanks!
Anywhoo, here's today's fill in the blanks!
1. The last thing I ate was an apple...does anyone else LOVE the crunching sound you make when you bite into an apple?
2. The next thing I'd like to eat is a warm Hello Dolly...I made some delicious ones last night for the trip this weekend and had a warm one out of the oven for dessert. So tasty.
3. The best things happen when you least expect them to. It's true! I've found that the more you obsess over and wish for things to happen [that you have no control over], the least likely they are to happen. Just live, baby.
4. Something that makes me supremely and utterly happy is a good song to singalong to. I could be in the worst mood, but if one of my jams comes on the radio, I'll sing that baby til the cows come home.
5. Sports are extremely fun to watch. I've got a bit of a competitive nature, and my favorites are college football (duh, GO GATORS) and college/NBA basketball (GO MAVS). College sports have always been more exciting for me...probably because I want to an SEC school.
6. I miss my family and friends from home/college. This you know.
7. Right now I am SO HAPPY AND EXCITED FOR THE WEEKEND! Today is one of those days I don't think anything/one could break my good mood. Holla!
Happy weekend, friends! I'll sign off with a picture of the Hello Dollies I made last night (they are a recipe from the Magnolia Bakery in NYC). They may not look like much, but I can tell you that they are little bites of HEAVEN. Recipe here...although, I will admit, I make a few adjustments/Jenna touches ;)

Thursday thoughts
I completely forgot to mention that I went paddle-boarding for the very first time last weekend, and it was SOO fun. Quite a workout too! I wish I had photos, but I'm always too scared to bring my camera to the beach. My mom snapped a couple with her iPhone, but they of course turned out terrible. Bummer. Anyway, I want to buy one to keep at Trey's lake house - such a fun activity and a great leg/ab/arms workout.
In other news, I just bought two bathing suits on Victoria's Secret.com because they are having their semi-annual sale. I got a pretty phenom deal. Two bathing suit tops and one bottom (to mix-and-match) for 70 bucks! Pretty good dealio. And the shipping was free. Done and done.
I've been really into reading lately, which is great! Summer is always the perfect time to catch up on books I've had on my list for a while. I finished The Help last week...AMAZING. Anyone else read it? I could not put it down. I also started The Hunger Games over the weekend and am 90% done! My sister-in-law (who turned me on to the Twilight series haha) told me I had to read it, and, by golly, she was right. It is addicting. I literally haven't read a book this fast SINCE Twilight. I highly suggest it!

This week has flown by - anyone else agree/disagree? Now that I said that, I'm sure the next 2 days are going to go by sooooooo slow. A big group of us are floating the Guadelupe River this weekend, and I am so excited! We did the same trip last year, and it was a blast. Rented a huge house in New Braunfels, floated the river all day Saturday and went to an outdoor concert Saturday night (which obviously made for a very exhausting drive home on Sunday!). This year, we are going to see Girl Talk and I cannot wait. They are a favorite "artist/band" of mine - great to work out to if you are interested in some new tunes!
Here is a little preview of what to expect...dressing up for the concert is a MUST.

There you have it. Oh, and yes, that is my very handsome boyfriend. Can you tell I'm excited?

This weekend was full of awesome-ness
Happy Tuesday!
Sorry I've taken a couple days off - I wanted to write yesterday but was completely tied up dealing with insurance agents all day (more on that later). First things first, I had an AMAZING weekend in Florida! I couldn't post my plans on here because we surprised my mom for her birthday :) Here is how it all went down...
Trey and I flew to Tampa on Thursday, and my brother and sister-in-law picked us up from the airport. My mom thought she was going to dinner with my dad, brother and sister-in-law, so when we got to the house, Trey and I ran around to the back of the house while Burton and Shelby went in the front door to say their hellos. They then brought her out to the backyard to "show her something in Burton's car" and BAM! There we were! SURPRISE! We got it all on video but I haven't quite figured out how to post videos on here yet. Then, my dad tells her we are going to Sarasota Beach for the weekend to celebrate her birthday! I just love surprises :)
Had such a great time with the fam...it's been far too long since we've had a vacation all together, and I couldn't have asked for a better weekend! Here are a few pics of our lovely bunch!

Amazing parents!
So since I was gone on Friday, I want to do my fill-in-the-blanks today. Enjoy!

I miss them (and the beach) already! Anyway...on a less happy note, while we were on the way to the airport last Thursday afternoon, we were in a car accident and were t-boned by a big SUV, so my [brand new] car is not in good shape. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and it wasn't my fault, but dealing with insurance agents is exhausting. I've given my play-by-play statement a gazillion times and am ready for it to be over and done with. What a mess. It was an absolute miracle that we made our flight that day, but coming home and having to deal with everything first thing Monday morning was far from pleasant. So for now, I am in a rental car (a PT Cruiser...vom) and awaiting the damages estimate. Please be thinking about me and hoping the repair doesn't take long! I literally hadn't even had my new car for a WEEK. Can you believe that? What luck...
So since I was gone on Friday, I want to do my fill-in-the-blanks today. Enjoy!
2. I want to take off work the rest of the week and go back to the beach!
3. Surprises are my FAVORITE! Helllllooooo, see above story about my momma.
4. The best accessory is a really big pair of earrings.
5. My favorite warm drink is gas station coffee...it's the bomb.
6. My favorite cold drink is depends on the mood...water is always my go to, but beer is pretty dandy too.
7. Currently loving hair braids. I'm over doing my hair in the mornings, especially in the summer.

Blake Lively...wowza!
I have always been a fan of Blake Lively...or Serena, as I like to call her, and have always admired her sense of style. And who isn't in love with her amazingly perfect hair? What I would do to have locks like that...
Anyway, I was getting my hair colored last night and stumbled upon the July issue of Glamour, and girl looks GOOD. Holy moly, I don't think I've ever seen her look this amazing. Check these out...
Annnnnd I want to be her!

My humble abode
I'm far from Martha Stewart, but I have to say I love what I've done with the smallll space of my little shack (as I like to call my studio apartment!). Here are a couple photos of where I call home...

It isn't much, but I've grown to love it! It's perfect for little old me, and I DIE for that mirror. That's a piece I'm keeping forevs.
Ta ta!

Tuesday updates
Ooooohweeeee. What a week...and it's only Tuesday. It's hard to complain because I would much rather be busy than be sitting around doing nothing, but goodness! I thought summer was supposed to slow down a little bit!
I had a great and relaxing weekend in Houston with T and his family. I have never been to H-town and really liked it! I've actually heard terrible things about it from some Dallas-raised peeps, but I loved it. It felt so much more laid back and "Texas" to me. I can't wait to go back. Also, Trey's parents just moved into an amazing new home, so I loooved seeing the new design and hearing his mom's future plans for the place. I sooo can't wait to have my own home and decorate and design it exactly how I want it! One day...
In other news, unless you've been living under a rock, you know that THE MAVS WON THE 2011 NBA CHAMPIONSHIP! Can I just say that they soooo deserved it? I mean come on, they've never won, Dirk (and the rest of the starters, for that matter) have been on the team forever and they had more heart than any other NBA team. I am so excited for them. Dallas is having a big parade on Thursday morning for the Mavs, and I fully intend on using my lunch break to go. Go Dallas! Now, if the Cowboys could just get their act together....here's to wishful thinking on that one haha.
Random vent: we just got a new summer intern last week in our office, and she is driving me crazy. Hey, I don't think I am a mean person, and I would LOVE to be a mentor to someone trying to start their career, but how does my agency never find good/passionate/motivated/willing-to-work interns? It is ridiculous! I am happy to teach - don't get me wrong, but when someone is picking up their cell phone all the time, admitting she is on Facebook and not getting any work done, it really frustrates me. I worked my a$$ off as an intern for a public relations firm in New York City when I was in college, so this is just ridiculous to me. ARGGHHHH. Please let it get better before it gets worse. I just can't take it anymore and I'm afraid I'm going to lash out on the girl. HELP!
Whew, thanks for letting me vent. I've been needing to get that off my chest for a week...okay, I gotta get back to work but will update with something super fun tomorrow - I promise!
Signing off with birthday wishes to my blogger and REAL friend Lindsay - have a very happy birthday today, Tito! Love you!

Finally Friday
1. This weekend I'm going to Houston with Trey to visit his family! I've never been (aside from passing through on a connecting flight) so I'm very excited :)
2. My last vacation was over Memorial Day - we went to South Beach, MEE-YA-MEE!
3. My next vacation will be I can't say publicly because it's a surprise trip! I'll let you know afterward, though ;)
4. My favorite way to relax is movie night! Delicious take-out with a good movie = veg city
5. When vacationing one should always I don't know that I'd recommend this for everyone, but I'll tell you what I always do...I always over pack and bring a couple extra outfits (you never know what's going to happen/where you'll end up!), and, if flying, I always carry on my jewelry and my makeup.
6. When vacationing one should never count calories or feel bad about eating something indulgent...you're on vacation! Enjoy it.
7. The best part about a vacation is getting out of town and forgetting about life for a couple days. It refreshes the soul!

good quote
"There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life; getting back up is living."

Happy Thursday, loves!

What I'm Loving Wednesday
I am completely out of blog post ideas this week (sorry, I'm drained from work!), so I saw this on my friend's blog and thought I'd go with this one!
1. Getting to go here on the weekends:

Horseshoe Bay - gorgeous!
2. White dresses
If you know me, you know how obsessed I am with white dresses...and now is the perfect time to wear them.3. Wake-boarding, skiing, tubing...all water sports really
Okay, so I just learned to wake-board last summer, but I'm anxious to get back out there.4. Floating the river in TWO weeks
5. Shorts and wedges
HOW cute are these shorts? I want them...6. Having a tan, boat rides, margaritas and cooking out
Can you tell I'm from Florida with all of these? haha I'm telling you I was made for warm temps! Hello, Summer.

ABCs of ME
I'm copying Megan's post at A Suitcase and Stilettos because I LOVE this idea!
A. Age: 25
B. Bed size: Queen
C. Chore you hate: Putting laundry away...I don't mind doing it at all (in fact, I like doing it!); I just hate putting clothes away.
D. Dogs: Bailey boy! Ain't he cute?
F. Favorite color: Coral or turquoise
G. Gold or silver: Both! Depends on my mood/outfit
H. Height: 5'7
I. Instruments you play: None. But I do sing.
J. Job title: Senior Account Executive
K. Kids: Someday
L. Live: Dallas, Texas
M. Mom’s name: Sandra
N. Nicknames: My last name...it's quite catchy.
O. Overnight hospital stays: None
P. Pet peeve: I'm a pretty impatient person, so anything that slows me down during the day frustrates me to the max (i.e. traffic, people in airport security lines that take their sweet a$$ time, etc. You get the idea)
Q. Quote from a movie/show: This is realllly silly, but I heard it in an episode of Bethenny Ever After (yes, on Bravo...I love her!) and it stuck:
"Anything worthwhile is worth fighting for."
R. Righty or Lefty: Righty
S. Siblings: An older brother and a sister-in-law...yes I consider both siblings!
U. Underwear: Yep
V. Vegetables you dislike: Haha, I don't like too many veggies. I know all you health nuts and going to hate me now...I DO like salads, carrots and green beans . That's about it unfortunately.
W. What makes you run late: When someone is moving into my apartment, and one of the elevator's are reserved...SO frustrating. Literally, they are the slowest elevators EVER, and I'm on the 9th floor.
X. X-rays you’ve had: I've only broken one bone - my arm when I was 4 years old. Needless to say, I don't remember much about it.
Y. Yummy food you make: I've gotta say I'm a prettttty good baker, and I can make some delicious balsamic chicken risotto and southern-style shrimp and grits. Those are two of T's faves.
Z. Zoo animal favorite: Monkeys of course! Oh, and penguins (only at some zoos, obviously)

Forgot to mention!
I'm guestblogging today on my friend Whitney's blog cheerios and beer while she is on vacay.
Check it out here!
P.S. I'm jealous!
Check it out here!
P.S. I'm jealous!
Alllllmost the weekend
1. I love sweets because they make me feel happy and tingly all over...especially warm sweets. It's a problem...if you put a dessert in front of me, I WILL eat it.
2. A time that mama knew best was mama always knows best! I would say in high school when I was a terrrrrible 15-year-old going through the "I am the shit" phase. She always told me I'd regret being such a B to everyone, and by golly I do. But, like I said, she always seems to be right about pretty much everything else haha...
3. My first kiss went a little like this I was in 8th grade...it was outside of the gym during a dance...actually I think it was the party after our middle school play ended...anyway, I remember thinking "this is soo weird...our tongues are touching!"
4. My celebrity crush is John Krasinski (Jim from the office). I mean how could you not love this guy? He's cute, hilarious, romantic, witty, tall, hot (I'm just being honest). I'm so jealous of Emily Blunt...I've always loved Jim from the Office, but I saw John on Conan a couple weeks ago and fell in love.
5. My splurge of choice is clothes...I online shop a lot. And by online shop, I mean put lots and lots of stuff that I want in my shopping basket and never make the final purchase. Ahh, if only I had a money tree.

6. My biggest accomplishment is probably moving out of Florida and making my own life in Texas. That doesn't happen too often with Tampa-ins (Tampans? Tampanians? Tampons - definitely not). Or running two half-marathons. That is a pretty huge accomplishment for me too since I don't come from a running background.
7. My dance jam of choice is ohh man, I will always be on the dance floor when anything I can sing to comes on...can't help it.

Work gahhhhh
A friend of mine told me this recently, and I just had to post it on here, especially on a frustrating work day like today.
"Work will always be the mundane part of life. If you let it consume you, then you will let it consume your life. BUT if you change your mind set, then everything can change."
I read this on a daily basis...no joke. It really is true, but there are still times that I truly wish I was doing something I was more passionate about every day. Ahh, the beauties of the real world.
Anyway! Short little break and am now back to working like a busy busy bee.
