Okay, I hate complaining and I promise not to make this a regular occurrence, but I have to vent this morning.
As you know, I just started training for a half marathon in December a couple of weeks ago (sidenote: the half marathon I am running also has a full marathon option). Since then, I'm happy to report that many of my friends are joining in and have decided to run with me, which I am SOO excited about...the more the merrier and I'm touched to be any kind of influence that pushed them to do so! Plus, I love running partners :)
That said, there have also been some people that have heard about the half-marathon and have said (to my face) something along the lines of "You know what, I think I'll run the full marathon. But I don't need to train...I mean I'm a runner. It can't be that hard, right?"
YES!
It IS hard. Training for any race is difficult for all types of runners, especially when your body isn't accustomed to running that kind of distance. There is nothing easy about running 13.1 miles or 26.2 miles! Hell, I ran 4 miles this morning and it was hard! So please, people, even if it is easy for you to run a half-marathon or a marathon, keep it to yourself because you're reallllllllly killin my high.
That's all. Happy National Coffee Day!

Organizing...
Obsessed with the Web site See Jane Work, which has a bunch of desk organizers AND they carry Jonathan Adler accessories, who I LOVE. I'm also a nut about being organized...especially at my desk. I literally cannot work if my office isn't neat. Here are a couple of my favorites:
Love this magnetic board:

And this desk notepad:

And my fave! These sticky notes are awesome:

It's beginning to look a lot like FAAALLLLLL

I heart pumpkins
I went for a run last night with Bailey boy...it was my first run with him, and it was AMAZING. By far, the best running weather, and I love it! I ended up losing track of my mileage and we ran 4.88 miles! I couldn't believe the pup kept up with me, as the most he has run with his dad is 3 miles. We had a blast. He gets a little excited when he sees people (and dogs...yikes), but he was great while we were running through the Highland Park neighborhood. I tried to snap a photo of us after the run but Bailey was not cooperating haha. I can't wait for more runs with my pup!
Cross your fingers that this unbelievable weather continues...
Updates from the weekend
Thursday: Kings of Leon concert...awesome, I love them.
Friday: SMU vs. TCU game...so much fun even though SMU lost. Close game though!
Saturday: Lounged...it was amazing. Lunched at Taj Mahal, bought a new Northface rain jacket, took Bailey to the dog park, threw the frisbee around at the park and watched Robin Hood (the 2010 version), which was pretty good. I was passed out before midnight.
Sunday: Bed, Bath & Beyond run, lunch at Whole Foods at Park Lane (which is AMAZING if you've never been...I want to live there), cleaned up the house, went for a run with Bailey and watched an awesome documentary with the roommates.
Not too much to report for the week ahead...the Red River Rivalry (Texas/OU game) is on Saturday, which is sure to be a crazy weekend! Man, I live for the weekends...

Oopsie Daisey
I have been so swamped at work this week that I completely forgot about blogging! Yes, I know it's only been 2 days since my last post, but I was so shocked when I looked at my bookmark toolbar and saw "That's What She Said" and quickly realized my neglect!
Not much to update on except my half-marathon training, I guess (how exhilarating! I know I know haha). But I do need to report how amazing it feels to actually feel my body getting used to running outdoors. I know that sounds completely dorky, but today was the first time I've run outside after work (it's been too hot lately!) and actually had a great run and could feel my body getting into running shape! I even ran 1 mile longer than my training schedule commanded me to! I was extremely proud of myself :)
Anywhoo, that's all on my front...I am extremely excited for the weekend! Tomorrow is the Black Keys/Kings of Leon concert (Ya know thatttt I could uuuuuuuuuuse someboooodaaaaaay!) and Friday is the SMU/TCU game. Can't wait to tailgate and cheer on the Stangs!
Pony Up!

Halloween

Does anyone else love candy corn? I went to the store yesterday afternoon and walked RIGHT past the Halloween candy. How could I forget to buy candy corn? It is one of my favorite things about Halloween! In my defense, there was a gay pride parade yesterday on the street that my grocery store is located...and there were many parade goers in the store. So I was a little preoccupied. I'm actually surprised I got everything on my shopping list! Anyway, me thinks I'll have to make an emergency run to CVS today to grab some CC. Yummmmmy.
I love the fall...pumpkins, leaves changing, cooler weather. Just a happy time. In thinking about candy corn this morning, I realized I don't have any idea what I am dressing as for Halloween! This year, I am going to be in New Orleans for the holiday, so I have to think of something good. My ideas so far are:
- Hippie
- Angel
- Bumble Bee
- Cat
- Fairy
What do you think? Any other ideas you can throw my way?

Yeah I saw this and couldn't help myself....
I wish I had something fun to report, but I don't! My week has been pretty boring. I had dinner with Hannah and her mom at Eddie V's last night, which was AMAZING. I had crab-stuffed shrimp, and we got some truffle mac and cheese for the table...ridiculously good. I wanted to take a picture of it, but felt awkward haha. And to top it off, we got banana's foster for dessert. I don't even know how to describe how amazing this dessert was, and this is coming from someone who doesn't like bananas! It came out on fire - it was awesome. And it tasted like a warm gooey cake...just promise me if you ever go to Eddie V's, you will order it because it was heavenly.
Not too many plans on the horizon for the weekend, which is a-okay with me because last weekend was a drunkfest for Hannah's birthday. I'm just happy to be able to sleep in for two days! Woo woooooo. Annnnnd I'm signing this post off with a big...

Hump day!
I love Wednesdays. Not only because it means tomorrow is Thursday (which is one step closer to FRIDAY and the WEEKEND!), but also because my intern comes in on Wednesdays, and she really helps my workload a lot.In other news, this week has been pretty nutty. Yesterday, I was on the phone practically 90% of my day - all work-related...well, besides one quick phone call to my momma :) Anyway, it was difficult to get any real work done, but I managed. Aside from work, I just started training for my second half-marathon! I ran my first one - the Dallas Rock & Roll Half Marathon - last March. So I took the summer off from running outside...because Lord knows running in the Texas summer heat is borderline impossible, not to mention dangerous. So I started my 12-week training program on Monday, and, in a nut shell, here is what the next 12 weeks looks like:
Monday: Spinning
Tuesday: Run 3 to 4 miles
Wednesday: Run 3 miles plus Body Pump
Thursday: Run 2 to 3 miles (easy run)
Friday: Day off
Saturday: Long run (distance starts at 4 miles and increases 1 mile every week)
Sunday: Yoga
I'll keep you up to date with my progress. So far, so good :) I will say that running outside is definitely tough to get used to. It's funny, I could run on the treadmill for miles and miles...and that's what I've been doing for the past couple of months...but running outside is a completely different work out. Sure, running on the treadmill is great for you, but running outside works every single muscle in your body. It is so much harder than the tread! 3 miles outside feels harder to me than 6 miles on the treadmill haha. Who woulda thought?
Signing off now and am super excited about the Top Chef finale tonight! Who do you think will win? My vote is for Ed...or Kevin...but not Angelo. No me gusta. That guy has a serious ego problem.

So. Tired.
What a weekend.
I can hardly keep my eyes open today! This is how I feel right now...

And this is what I wish I was doing...

My only highlight was RA Sushi for lunch. That place is so delicious - Definitely my favorite sushi resto here. I just wish it was closer than Plano!
The only thing keeping me going is the thought of hopping in my bed tonight, getting under my covers and passing out early! The countdown begins...

Happpppy Birthday!

Tomorrow is my roommate and one of my best friend Miss Hannah Hillman's birthday! If you know me, you know that I LOVE birthdays. I love celebrating...I love buying gifts...I love planning birthday parties/dinners/etc. I blame it on my parents - birthdays were always a huge deal growing up. Anyway, for Hannah Banana's birthday this weekend, we are going to the Tim McGraw concert tonight (thanks to our awesome roomies who work for the Superbowl Host Committee) at the Dallas Cowboys stadium...side note: it's my first time going to the new stadium and I am SOOO excited...and tomorrow, we're going to brunch with a bunch of girls and will be day drinking and tailgating. I hope she has the best birthday yet :)
Pictures to come after the weekend, but here is a flashback from Hannah's birthday extravaganza last year.

It's Raininggg, It's Pouuuuuring!
After two days of terrential downpouring, the rain has FINALLY stopped! No, it isn't exactly sunshine and rainbows outside today, but at least there is no tornado watch. I gotta say, I didn't mind the rain too much this week. It allowed me to get a lot done at work, which is always a plus...especially during a very busy week. Why are weeks always so darn busy after 3-day weekends?
I had an amazing and relaxing weekend in Horseshoe Bay with the boy and his family. We grilled out, went boating, water-skiied and watched college football. How could you have a bad weekend with that combination?? I even learned how to drop a ski! But the highlight of the weekend for me was feeding all of the deer one night. Apparently, the deer just run wild in Horseshoe Bay, so we grabbed a loaf of bread on Saturday night and golf carted to feed them, AND they ate out of my hand!! It was the closest I've ever been to a deer, and it was awesome!

Rainy days
Well, it's a nasty rainy day today in the big D, so naturally I'm going to cheer myself up by recapping my last couple of months for you!
For Memorial Day, a group of my Dallas friends went to my mountain house in Cashiers, North Carolina! See photos below:

The whole group at The Library for dinnerIt was a blast! Lots of cooking out, playing drinking games and just hanging with good friends. I want to go back! My next big trip was for the Fourth of July at Horseshoe Bay, which was also a ton of fun, and a couple weekends later, a big group of us floated the Guadelupe River in New Braunfels and saw a Ghostland Observatory concert that night. It was crazy fun! We rented a house right on the river for 18 of us. Any and all photos are a little too inapprop to post on this blog haha. And I finished the summer off in New Hampshire for one of my good friends Lindsay Teeven's (now Lindsay Knittle) wedding! Photos below.

The gorgeous bride and IIt was SUCH a fun wedding and I loved Hanover, New Hampshire. One of the cutest towns ever! The wedding was gorgeous and the bride looked stunning (as you can see). Every little detail was so her. I loved it! Trey and I decided to tag on a night in Boston after the wedding, which was awesome. Neither of us had ever been, and it was such a cool town. If the weather was 70 degrees year round, like it was that weekend, I would seriously consider moving there. I know, I know...I am far from a Northerner, but it was like a relaxed New York. They even had a Little Italy in the North End...sooo awesome. Below is a picture of us in the North End and walking around Harvard (which was gorg)!

I also got to catch up with my friend Melissa who was working in Boston for the summer - it was GREAT to see her! Love that girl.
So that my summer in a nutshull! With a couple Horseshoe Bay visits in between the big trips :) My next trip to look forward to will be New Orleans for Halloween! I know...insane. Costume ideas are welcome!

The End of Summer is Upon Us
Soooo...it's September 1st, which in my book means that the summer is O-VER. Not gonna lie - I was a little sad last month when I realized I only had a mere couple of weeks to 1. go to the lake, get a tan & go boating, 2. wear shorts and flip flops to work, and 3. day drink on Saturdays at the pool for no apparent reason. It was certainly a rude awakening.
Then I thought back to childhood when all we did was look forward to summer...well DUH, we had 3 months off of school. Who wouldn't be ecstatic about that? Shoot, I'd probably wet my pants if I got 3 months off of work now. (Sidenote: is it bad that I'm really looking forward to having kids merely for maternity leave?) I guess the whole "summer thrills" carries on with us forever because every March/April when the weather gets nice in Dallas, I get supppper pumped for the coming months.
But then I realized that the fall equates to college football season (GO GATORS), tailgating, running outside, sitting on a restaurant's or bar's patios and not sweating bullets, holidays and last but certainly not least, FALL CLOTHES!
The three-digit temperatures this summer have been bru-tal. I can't even walk from my apartment to my car in the parking garage without sweating. For some reason, I don't remember it being this hot in Texas the last 2 years. But the temperatures have already started going down...this week, our low is in the 70s!
I'm from Florida, and never did I ever think I would be jumping for joy to pop on a pair of jeans and a top and call it a night. And who doesn't love boots, cute jackets, and leggings? Ahh the thought just tickles me pink!
Bring it on, Fall. I am alllll ready for you. I am signing off with a throwback of two of my BFF's Allison and Hallie at a Gator gameday! Go Gators, Baby!
